It is crunch time for knitters and crocheters! We need to get those special handmade gifts done
and fast! So to help you out a little bit, I am sharing some of my favorite quick projects that
would be perfect gifts this holiday season.
Comfy Crochet Cowl
This cowl is a staple in my winter weather wardrobe. A big hook and big yarn make this comfy
cowl work up very quickly. I remember making a couple of these a day during craft show
seasons. My favorite yarn to make these cowls with is Baby Alpaca Grande. The yarn band
calls for a size K crochet hook. If you like the big fluffy feel of this yarn, go up at least one size. I
wrote this pattern using a size L crochet hook. This way you get all the nice alpaca fluff that
makes this yarn amazing. One skein is enough to make a good size cowl. Pictured above is 2
skeins of the Baby Alpaca Grande.

Toni Lipsey is the Tunisian Crochet Queen. She made this simple free pattern for a tunisian
crochet ear warmer/headband. I have made several of these with Encore and Anthem. I would
love to make some with Anthem Chunky though. Oh the soft squishy yarn would be amazing!

3 Hour Mittens!
Make and Do Crew have a fabulous free pattern to crochet a pair of mittens in about 3 hours.
AND she uses the waistcoat stitch that makes your crochet mittens look like they are knitted! I
would love to try making these with Pacific Bulky. She also has another free pattern holding 2
strands of worsted weight together.
