Quick Knit Gifts

It is crunch time for knitters and crocheters! We need to get those special handmade gifts done and fast! So to help you out a little bit, I am sharing some of my favorite quick projects that would be perfect gifts this holiday season.

Chunky Mittens

Who doesn't love a new pair of mittens? Some knitters stay far away from mittens though because of those pesky double pointed needles. You should no longer fear making mittens because I wrote a pattern for mittens that are made flat, no DPNs needed! These mittens work up quick since they use a size 9 needle and Anthem Chunky yarn. The pattern is written for 1 color, but it is simple enough to play with color blocking or stripes.

Quick Ombre Hat

This fair isle pattern is easy and FREE! It is my go to hat pattern. It uses a worsted weight yarn, but this hat still works up quickly. The simple fair isle pattern is so addictive, you will be whipping this hat up in no time at all. Encore and Anthem would be the perfect yarns for this hat with all our color choices.

Pistachio Swirl Slipper Socks

I know I have been a slipper fiend lately, but I promise you can make these chunky slipper socks. My mom was able to make a pair in a couple days. Yes she is still working full time too! All you need is one skein of Cherub Chunky and a 9" circular or a set of DPNs. I was able to make a pair of ankle socks in the large size and still have some yarn left over. If you would like a taller sock, you'll need another skein, but for a shorter slipper sock one skein is the perfect amount.

Weekender & Mini Weekender Cowl

The perfect pattern to mindlessly knit after a long day of work. One skein of Cartwheel can either make one massive cuddly Weekender Cowl or 2 smaller comfy Mini Weekender Cowls. Personally I love all the bulk of a giant scarf or cowl. Since not everyone shares my love of giant knitwear, I made the pattern for smaller cowls that are still adorable and warm.

Word Beanies

Another fair isle hat, don't be afraid though! Justyna has a bunch of cute beanie patterns made with super bulky yarn. No lie I made this coffee hat for my best friend in one night. ONE NIGHT! Big yarn, big needles, and an addictive pattern helped this hat fly out of my hands. I used Pacific Bulky for the beanie in the picture.

Copy Cat Cowl

This is everyone's favorite store sample - the Copy Cat Cowl. We made this cowl using Cascade's Luminosa. It only takes one skein of this luxurious yarn. With just knits and purls you get all this pretty shine that will dress up any outfit. Oh did I mention this pattern is free? Yeah, I know, it's awesome.

Last but not least, a knit washcloth. Everyone loves them. And this year they are especially useful! Check out our blog post for a whole bunch of fancy spa cloths or stick with the classic. Our Nifty Cotton would be a fabulous choice to take those washcloths up a notch to being a fancy spa cloth.
